China emissions plateau extends past two years as Hormuz crisis drives Q2 drop

China's CO2 emissions plateau has now lasted for more than two years, reinforced by a 1% decline in the second quarter of 2026 driven by lower oil consumption amid the Strait of Hormuz crisis, according to new analysis.
